Government Rebates
The Solar Homes and Communities Plan - $8000.00
The Solar Homes and Communities Plan replaced the Photovoltaic Rebate Program on May 13, 2008. It provides cash rebates for the installation of solar photovoltaic systems on homes and community use buildings. Homeowners wishing to install a new solar system may qualify for up to $8000.00 in rebates for a 1kW PV system. The rebate is subject to a means test of $100,000 combined household taxable income. Homeowners wanting to expand an existing PV system may qualify for up to $5000 subject to the means test. Grants of 50% of the system cost up to 2kW are available to community organisations. The Renewable Remote Power Generation Program (RRPGP) – 50%
The Australian Government's Renewable Remote Power Generation Programme (RRPGP) provides financial support to increase the use of renewable generation in remote parts of Australia that presently rely on fossil fuel for electricity supply. The Australian Government is very supportive of renewable energy companies and projects and will continue to subsidize investment to make renewable a viable, cost effective option for all Australians.
In Western Australia the Sustainable Energy Development Office (SEDO) administers the RRPGP, which has several subprograms including:
Rebates of up to 50 per cent of the capital cost of renewable generation and essential enabling equipment are available to applicants that fully comply with the eligibility requirements and procedures outlined in the sub-programme guidelines.
